Heath Fire, EMT
Q. How long have you been in EMS? What is your current position at Marple EMS?
EMS for 3 1/2 years and currently working at MTAC as an EMT-B.
Q. What made you become a part of EMS?
I started down the path of being a physician at Drexel and decided it was a bad fit. EMS seemed like a good way to stay in healthcare and would be more my pace.
Q. What is the most rewarding part of your job/position?
Aside from working with Holly Kelly; seeing the immediate results of my efforts to help people.
Q. What are your hobbies outside of work?
I practice Krav Maga and Balinese stick fighting.
Q. What is an interesting fact about you that no one may know?
I’m good at dancing Salsa and Merengue
Q.What did you want to do while growing up?
Initially Chewbacca, but as I grew up and found that to be unobtainable, I settled for an anthropologist which I eventually studied in college as one of my first degrees.
Q. Tell me about your life…With a few exceptions, I moved every year to two years since early childhood and most of my time was spent out west. I’ve lived in 8-9 states as well as Scotland and the Westbank outside of Jerusalem. I was an Archeologist/Anthropologist for 13 years before moving into healthcare. I finished the undergrad degree requirements for psychology, biology, chem, physics and pre-med. I was in a Medicine Society on the Rez and learned form a medicine man named Ben Rhodd, who was taught by Yellow Horse who learned from Sitting Bull. I was in grad school for biochem when I switched to MD. I have a daughter who graduates this year, I’m in the Air National Guard as a SSgt in the opposite of healthcare, and have just applied for the Philadelphia Police Academy.
